Sometimes, we may come across a lot of beautiful icons from PC programs. For some of them, we want to collect or just use them as materials, such as portableware’s icon, folder’s icon or icons for display on web page. In these cases, it is necessary to use some appropriate tools to extract out the icon resources we need.
BeCyIconGrabber is a very handy and tiny free app (less than 1 MB, from Germany) for viewing and extracting all icons, cursors (in multiple resolutions: 16 x 16, 24 x 24, 32 x 32, 40 x 40, 48 x 48, 64 x 64, 256 x 256) from various Windows executable files (main formats: EXE, DLL, ICL, OCX, CPL, SRC, ICO and CUR).
Slightly different from other similar icon extractors, BeCyIconGrabber can automatically find and extract icons in up to 7 resolutions, and supports so many icon types that we can consider it as a almost universal icon extraction tool. The extracted icons/cursors can be saved as a variety of image formats (icon, cursor, Bitmap, PNG) for direct view/use or the resource libraries (dll file) for calling in programming.
