Recently, because some video tutorials for Android developing can’t be played normally, I tried some of the so-called powerful video players (like KMPlayer, VLC media player and BS.Player PRO), but none of which can solve the problem. Finally, I choose the MPC-HC (short for Media Player Classic – Home Cinema).

Not only because it solved my problem, above all, MPC-HC reminded me what kind of media player we need on earth as a resident in our computer – become one of the must-have tools, like web browser and file downloader.

Why I call it the best (even it may look outdated at first sight)? Because in all the common video players, MPC-HC works well with all common video/audio file formats and very fast, yet using minimal resources (even for an ancient notebook). Very easy to configure and use, also owns extremely small file size. So, I say MPC-HC is the best player I could ever find for videos, thanks for the developer.

In addition, you will not see any ad or toolbar from this player. On the contrary, MPC-HC only focuses on the audio and video playing function and performance. And that’s we really need. BTW, MPC-HC is not only free, but also open source.

  • The MPC series of media players have a serious delay problem when playing .ts format of video file (that is, only the sound is heard first, but the picture freezes). PotPlayer, by contrast, has done very well in this regard.
