Although building proxy servers with tools such as Shadowshocks enables accessing to blocked websites via proxy, that works only for web browsers, not for other web applications to use its proxy setting. We call such proxy mode a local proxy. If you need to make your proxy settings available to local network programs like a web browser, then you need an auxiliary tool like Proxifier to implement a global proxy.

Unfortunately, all characteristics of Shadowsocks (SS) and ShadowsocksR (SSR) have been fully and absolutely identified and controlled by GFW (“thanks to” the forced compromise from their developers). In short, as long as the GFW wants to block your VPS, it can now do this easily and perfectly in less than 30 seconds. SSTap – Excellent proxy client focusing on online games

The main intention Taro Labs (from China) developed SSTap is – the hooking working mechanism of SocksCap64 (which was implemented with DLL injection technology) can cause itself to be recognized and intercepted by some game anti-theft systems and not work properly. In other words, SocksCap64 is not suitable for providing SOCKS proxy for all game programs, so that’s where SSTap enters the picture.

SocksCap64 – Make any program run through SOCKS proxy server

SocksCap used to be the most popular proxy client made by Permeo for Windows XP. Unfortunately, Permeo gave up the maintenance of SocksCap so it couldn’t be used on a 64-bit OS. In essence, SocksCap64 is a 64-bit version of SocksCap that perfectly supports Windows XP and higher versions (both 32-bit and 64-bit), which is implemented based on the DLL injection technology. It was originally designed to help the author (Taro Labs from China) himself reduce the connection delay when playing cross-regional online games.
