Zello is a free (for personal use), small, easy-to-use, and very fast push-to-talk (instant voice chat) app for communications between smartphones, tablets, and PCs on Android, iPhone, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and Windows platforms.
Zello is able to turn your smart mobile phone into a walkie-talkie. With it, you can keep in touch (exchange voice messages) with relatives, friends or co-workers in real time, by simply connecting to the same channel or finding someone specified you are talking to. Its advantages include but not limited to: supports for real-time streaming and high-quality voice/audio transmission; allows user to create public/private channels for up to 2500 users; you are allowed to create a password-protected channel; you are allowed to view the status of contacts; works with Bluetooth headset and Android Wears; maintains the history of voice messages; supports all mobile data transfer standards (WiFi, 2G, 3G, or 4G).
As we all know, various types of voice communicating or chatting software on a variety of platforms can be seen everywhere. But they have a common drawback – does not support the walkie-talkie style (instant, radio-style) of direct dialogue. That’s where Zello comes in handy. Plus, its mobile client uses the ICS style of UI design, therefore, the overall software design of Zello makes user feel relaxed and comfortable.
