Beats of Rage (BoR for short) is a doujin/homebrew/remake game made by Senile Team in OpenBOR long time ago, which is inspired from the classic video game Streets of Rage (SoR) series of SEGA and SNK Playmore‘s King of Fighters (KoF) series.

Beats of Rage is freeware and open source, builds in a moddable game engine made by Senile Team, which means any fans can create a new version of Beats of Rage. Its essence is to transplant the partial game roles of KoF to the scenario and background story of SoR, and then do some improvements such as graphics, sounds, action special effects and so on. But we should know that the emergence of Beats of Rage is really representative, it brought a great wave of Beat ‘Em Up style game homebrew.

After Beats of Rage, its built-in open source game engine (predecessor of OpenBOR) began to be widely used to DIY games; on the other hand, numerous MOD games based on the concept of Beats of Rage were created and are creating even today by fans (AppNee will continue to focus on and publish such games).

BTW, by means of the powerful game engine OpenBOR, you can also create your own Beat ‘Em Up style games without any programming experience needed, far more than Beats of Rage!
