In the past, to play a game for some platform on a computer, you have to find a corresponding console emulator to run it, and the necessary settings of each emulator vary. Some are very simple, while others may be more complex. This can be troublesome even for video game lovers who are fond of doing things from side to side. Fortunately, the appearance of RetroArch makes it more convenient for playing the classic video games on various platforms (a wide range of computers and game consoles) – within the same, lick and friendly GUI, as well as unified settings (so all configuration will be done once and for all).

WebTorrent – Streaming torrent media resource direct download and player

The “play after downloading” and “direct play online” for streaming media have an immeasurably vast difference on experience. However, streaming media websites providing online music or video play service have been facing two development difficulties: copyright and server performance. For the former, if they chose to buy the original copyright, the investment will be huge, and comes with too few resources and very slow update; if it was pirated, then that’s always possible to be under surveillance and even shut down at any time. In the latter case, the more people visit, the worse the server performance will be, which means either they have to increase the hardware investment, or it’s difficult to get further development.

Kerkythea – Photorealistic free renders for your 3D models

Kerkythea is a completely free, high-quality and fast 3D models render for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux platforms, developed by Ioannis Pantazopoulos from Greece. I found this free render engine in the process of studying SketchUp (by reading Architectural Design with SketchUp). In the end, it passed the software quality audit of AppNee, thus can be shared with more users around the world. Although it is a free software and not as popular as other renders, the functions of Kerkythea are not inferior in any respect. To some extent, it can be a preferred rendering tool for many small companies.

Among them, Shadowsocks (AKA: 影梭) is a free, open-source, cross-platform, encrypted, and secure small proxy project from China. It uses the SOCKS5 proxy protocol (similar to SSH tunnel), and runs very, very fast. In China and many other countries, it’s widely used to break through the GFW-like Internet blockade and censorship and access the disturbed, blocked, or shielded web sites and web services around the world, such as Google, YouTube, FaceBook/Twitter, and more.
