The M.A.M.E. (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) written by Nicola Salmoria and MAME team enables us to play thousands of classic arcade games on our computer. In this way, we can relive the joy and happy memories brought by the classic video games on arcade game console in the past.

ExtraMAME (AKA: Extra M.A.M.E.) is a MAME-based emulator for Windows. Its essence is a GUI front end (i.e.: a wrapper) of the most popular arcade game emulator MAME (with only DOS UI). Compared with the latter, its user interface is more intuitive, friendly and easy to use, and supports multilingual interface. In addition, ExtraMAME does not force you to do complex configurations, is compatible with all games supported by MAME, and makes the management (play, delete, search, refresh ROM files list, display detailed ROM info, install and verify the game ROM file, etc.) of game ROM files more direct, simpler, and more efficient.

Needless to say, arcade game rooms no longer exist in almost all countries. That way, playing arcade games through a emulator on a computer is our only choice. Of course, there have been many GUI front-end programs developed for MAME already. But by contrast, we can find that ExtraMAME is much better than others. That’s because it is relatively smaller in file size, much easier to use, more user friendly, and does better in terms of game compatibility.
