GameMaker Studio (GMS for short, formerly called: Game Maker, Animo) is a very powerful and popular cross-platform, multi-genre game development engine (GDE)/game creation system (GCS) for both entry-level novices/amateurs and seasoned game development professionals. It was written in Delphi by Mark Overmars from Netherlands and first published in 1999.

At the beginning, Game Maker is only popular in the circles of independent developers and game educators. The launch of GameMaker Studio this new version/edition made this simple game development tool get a new life like old tree grows new leaves (in fact, they have a series of essential differences). The latter provides brand-new functions and much higher performance, simple and intuitive user interface & operation (with integration of drag & drop), in which we can manage and control all aspects of the game development.

More than anything, GameMaker Studio comes with higher game publishing efficiency (increases by more than 80%) than writing the native code. Finally, it enables you to develop a fully functional, complete and cross-platform (including Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, Android, Symbian, HTML 5, Facebook…) big game work at the lowest consumption of cost in just a few hours.

BTW, for users who just started to use, you need to learn the operation of GameMaker Studio under the guidance of official operation tutorials. Then it becomes only a matter of time to develop our own game works when we are familiar with all its features.
