In the early 1990s, 2D arcade racer video games had great success on both arcade consoles and 16-bit home consoles, delivering a stunning integrated gaming experience. Until the mid to late ’90s, it was surpassed by the full 3D GT Racing, Ridge Racer, Need for Speed, and so forth series. Nowadays, the graphics of racing games have evolved to resemble the real world, but the obvious side effect of the excessive pursuit of realism is that the game controls become more complex, thus losing the fun of the game itself. As a result, many gamers miss the simple, exciting, relaxing racing experience when they could easily compete with friends.
Horizon Chase Turbo is an arcade-style retro 3D racing game mainly inspired from SEGA’s Out Run and Gremlin Graphics’ Top Gear, developed by Aquiris Game Studio from Brazil. It enables players to experience the retro, simple racing fun of the early 1990s in 4K resolution graphics provided by modern hardware technology. It was first released on mobile platforms, and ported to multiple platforms after the graphics was enhanced.
The game graphics adopts the low poly style with bright colors, combined with 4K high resolution and high-speed, smooth animation effects, as well as extremely simple operation specially designed for high-speed driving, and the game supports local multiplayer (up to 4 players) mode in the same screen. In addition, its BGM was produced by Barry Leitch, the original composer of the SFC version of Top Gear, which brought the dynamic music style of the arcade back to the present, bringing a more authentic retro experience to the game.
Horizon Chase Turbo comes with a sense of stifling speed, retro gameplay, extremely simple and smart controls, adds a lot of unique new gameplays and new contents, and offers exciting tournaments as well as endurance matches. In addition, unlike the past arcade games with a fixed number of cars and abilities, it also includes a rich vehicle upgrade elements. In short, you will have a racing tour around the world in Horizon Chase Turbo.
