Samurai Shodown V Special (AKA: Samurai Spirits Zero Special, ?????????? SPECIAL) is the enhanced version of Samurai Shodown V, as the ninth work in the classic Samurai Shodown/Samurai Spirits series of arcade fighting games, released by SNK Playmore for Neo Geo platform in 2004.
In addition to following the Shodown/Samurai Spirits series’ traditional settings, Samurai Shodown V Special has many graphics and sound changes, as well as new game system introduced. Among them, the most characteristic part is this ‘Special’ edition enables players to play as the BOSS characters (even the hidden characters can be chosen) which can not be used in its previous work (Samurai Shodown V).
Besides, Samurai Shodown V Special incorporated generic fatality effects and new ones for all characters, and especially the introduction of the Zetsumei Ougi or the Overkill Move. Of course, as a consequence it came out with the storyline expensed. But anyway, Shodown/Samurai Spirits series’ fan players should not miss it.
