Nik Collection is a powerful and professional plug-in set for photo post-processing, composed of 7 image processing plug-ins for different purposes. The plug-in suite is suitable for Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom or Apple Aperture (replaced by Apple Photos). With it, we can quickly complete many professional photo editing effects with ease.
Nik Software‘s Photoshop filters collection has been very famous for a long time – considered one of 3 sets of most powerful photo filters along with VSCO and Exposure. It was acquired by Google in 2012, then relaunched and eventually has been provided free of charge since March 24, 2016. After that, it became more popular for professional photographers, shutterbug or photo designing enthusiasts.
Of course, Google’s aim is to attract more professional users to use their action camera applications like Photos and Snapseed. On the other hand, it also probably means that Google Nik Collection would not be updated in the future.
DxO announced the acquisition of Nik Collection from Google in 2017 and has since continued to develop it.
