Super Mario Bros. X (SMBX for short) is a very popular unofficial fan-made game made by Redigit (Andrew Spinks – also the creator of Terraria), now owned and managed by the SMBX Forums leaders. SMBX2 (AKA: SMBX 2.0, full name: Super Mario Bros X2, Super Mario Bros. X 2.0) is an open-source expansion of the original SMBX developed by Horikawa Otane from Japan, using LunaLua and PGE Editor.

SMBX pays tribute to several classic Super Mario Bros. game works. Based on it, SMBX2 features fixing bugs, improvements and adding a mass of new elements, new game modes, many additional NPCs (like MagikoopaThwomp), more playable favorite video game characters with unique abilities (like Samus Aran, Mega Man, Solid Snake, Klonoa), lots of new Blocks, and many more!

In addition to playing the existing stages, you are also allowed to design your own stages and episodes. Beyond all questions, the PGE Editor is the best way to edit/create levels in SMBX2, so that SMB games fans player can enjoy the entire editing process in an all new experience! Besides, as a continuation or evolution of this classic Mario game engine, another key feature of SMBX2 is that it started to use a Lua scripting interface – LunaLua, which supports fine control over the game’s mechanics and settings.
