SocksCap used to be the most popular proxy client made by Permeo for Windows XP. Unfortunately, Permeo gave up the maintenance of SocksCap so it couldn’t be used on a 64-bit OS. In essence, SocksCap64 is a 64-bit version of SocksCap that perfectly supports Windows XP and higher versions (both 32-bit and 64-bit), which is implemented based on the DLL injection technology. It was originally designed to help the author (Taro Labs from China) himself reduce the connection delay when playing cross-regional online games.

There are a lot of similar software as Hide ALL IP (their working principle is just a proxy). But to be honest, they are not very useful, or even completely useless in many countries with strict Internet censorship. Because the general HTTP/HTTPS/SOCKS5 proxies, even the so-called highly anonymous ones, almost were all blocked by the powerful network firewalls of some countries, without exception.

Shadowsocks – Very fast and secure cross-plarform SOCKS5 proxy

As is known to all, the serious network blockade and censorship in Mainland China (namely the GFW founded in 1998) has given rise to numerous excellent proxy software from China, including but not limited to: Freegate, UltraSurf, SoftEther VPN, GoAgent, Shadowsocks, cow, Lantern, and more. Among them, Shadowsocks (AKA: 影梭) is a free, open-source, cross-platform, encrypted, and secure small proxy project from China. It uses the SOCKS5 proxy protocol (similar to SSH tunnel), and runs very, very fast. In China and many other countries, it’s widely used to break through the GFW-like Internet blockade and censorship and access the disturbed, blocked, or shielded web sites and web services around the world, such as Google, YouTube, FaceBook/Twitter, and more.
