To protect the security of files/data, I have always found it preferable to hide and/or set an access password for a partition rather than to encrypt the partition or an entire hard disk. The reasons are: 1) The performance and efficiency of reading/writing encrypted files are extremely low; 2) As far as I know, although an encrypted file is hard to crack, it is the most likely to happen and the most deadly for users to forget their encryption key – there is no solution at all; 3) In fact, even if you just hide one partition without password protection, few people would expect you to protect your private data in this way.

[v10.5, v10.4] Symantec Encryption Desktop – PGP Desktop’s successor

Ads Place

PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) is currently the best and most popular data (including texts, e-mails, files, directories, partitions, and whole disk) signing, encrypting, and decrypting program, developed by Phil Zimmermann in 1991. Its source code is open, and it has withstood the challenges from thousands of top hackers around the world. It turns out that PGP is still the most secure encryption software in the world for now (until the popularity of quantum computers, I think). Without a password, no one can decrypt the data encrypted with it!

[v5.xx] Hidden Disk – Creates a password-protected hidden disk

The biggest trouble with working or studying on a public computer is that there will always be people who will look into and even steal, delete your important documents, materials and data without permission, some of which may even involve personal privacy and trade secrets. In this case, you can use Hidden Disk to create a virtual, encrypted drive (you need a password to access it) that can be hidden at will to solve this problem perfectly.

USB storage devices have brought us a lot of convenience, such as: fast transfer data from one computer to another; convenient to carry around. [v2.5] Any Video Encryptor – Protect your multimedia files with an access password

There are too many software that can encrypt any type of files, but only very few file encryption tools are able to protect a file as easily and directly as setting an access password (anyone can access some file at any time, on any computer by just providing the correct password), especially for multimedia files. Because these methods usually require the user to install the corresponding encrpytion software and perform decryption operations.

[v5.7] VBA Password Bypasser – Ignore VBA code protection technique at all

In the first place, you should know, VBA Password Bypasser is not a password cracking or recovering software, but a tool specifically designed to bypass (another kind of ‘remove’) the VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) project/macro’s protection technique. Simply speaking, it enables you to open any VBA-protected files with ease – no password required.

[v7.x.x] PDF Password Remover – Remove password protection from PDF files in batch

Some PDF files downloaded from the Internet may be protected with password, most of which are “Owner Password Protection” type (used to prevent copying, editing, and printing the PDF file), a few of them will be “User Password Protection” type (also referred to as “Open Password Protection“, others can not open it without the correct password). As to the former case, we can use all kind of PDF password removers to remove the passwords directly with ease; but for the latter, the user password is required, or you have to make brute force attacks.
