For a beginner who just stepped into the development of dynamic website, the construction of Apache + PHP + MySQL environment, as well as its complex configuration process are troublesome, time-consuming and error-prone. Therefore it’s an efficient way to choose an integrated web development environment. In this way, you can more quickly finish the installation and configuration of your server environment, thus to concentrate more time and energy in the project development itself.

WampServer (short for Windows Apache MySQL PHP, WAMP for short) is a free web server software bundle (including Apache Web server, PHP interpreter, MySQL database, phpMyAdmin database manager, OpenSSL for SSL support, and more) – i.e.: an integrated installation environment for Windows, developed by Romain Bourdon from France. It can quickly set up and configure a Web server without any tedious steps for configuring a server.

In WampServer, all integrated components are not emasculated, and the PHP extension and Apache module can be easily enabled/disabled via the right-click menu, which saves you the trouble of manually modifying the configuration file. It is able to run multiple PHP versions at the same time, allows to customize and switch PHP version optionally, supports automatically and periodically restarting the entire server or Apache, MySQL and other related services separately. In particular, WampServer provides both development mode and operation mode. By switching to the operation mode, you can make your website run directly on the server end.

In general, both in terms of security and performance, the LAMP (Linux + Apache + MySQL + PHP) is superior to WAMP (Windows + Apache + MySQL + PHP). But due to the ease of use and popularity of Windows, WAMP is still the first choice for beginners. However, to quickly build a WAMP web development integration environment, the best solution was USBWebserver, which has been recommended by AppNee all the time. Unfortunately, it has been gradually forgotten due to some reasons like: has stopped updating, does not allow to modify the configuration files. In the end, WampServer has become the best choice at present.
