Zeal is a free and open source offline documentation browser specially designed for programmers/coders on Windows and Linux. It’s inspired from Dash on Mac OS X, developed using Qt, simple but efficient, enables you to instantly access 200+ offline API documentation sets with ease.

On account of basing on the same docset format, Zeal can be completely compatible with all documents for Dash. Although there is no code snippet management function (instead, it only provides the offline document browsing feature), anyway, for Windows and Linux users finally we have one to use (Dash is currently only available on Mac OS, although was planning to be ported to Windows, due to various reasons that was delayed).

// Key Features //

  • Quickly search documentation using Alt+Space (or customised) hotkey
  • When not in use, can be hidden to the system tray
  • Allows to search multiple documents at the same time
  • Integrate Zeal with your favorite IDE using a variety of plugins (25+)
  • Do not rely on the network (totally offline)
  • Open source under the GPL (completely free)
  • All documentations for Dash can be used in in Zeal (200+)
