Detwinner is an all-encompassing tool designed to identify and eliminate duplicate files on Windows or Linux platforms, helping users to reclaim valuable storage space. It boasts sophisticated and user-friendly filters, as well as configurable settings tailored for users of all experience levels.
Featuring a spacious window with a straightforward and navigable interface, Detwinner includes an integrated file navigator to help you select your scan targets. You have the flexibility to include one or more drives or directories in the scanning process, with or without subfolders, based on your preferences. You can instruct Detwinner to search for exact duplicates or similar images, factoring in a custom-defined level of similarity regarding file content, and decide whether or not to include rotated images in your search.
You can refine search results using a variety of filters. For example, you can set restrictions on file sizes by specifying minimum and maximum dimensions and measurement units, filter by specific date ranges (such as creation, modification, or access dates), and check file attributes (such as hidden, system, read-only, archive, compressed, or encrypted).
Additionally, Detwinner allows you to create lists of whitelisted or blacklisted file names and extensions, as well as designate folders to exclude from the scan. You also have the option to create and save multiple profiles with different settings for future use. During the scanning process, you can adjust the priority to prioritize scan speed or minimize resource usage. After the scan is complete, you’ll be able to view groups of original files alongside their duplicates and examine various details, such as folder location, file size, and date.
Detwinner enables image previews, sorting based on various criteria, manual selection of files, regular expression filtering, or automatic smart selection (which chooses all duplicates while excluding the originals). Files can be sent to the Recycle Bin, permanently deleted, or moved to another folder for future management. Besides, all file properties can be compiled into CSV, HTML, or XML formats for detailed analysis.
