The reasons someone would want to split audio files can vary. It can range from entertainment and work to advertising, among others. AD MP3 Cutter is a tiny application designed for cutting audio files, specifically in MP3 format. It provides several methods for splitting, including a visual option supported by a waveform display.

Start by uploading the audio file you want to edit. You can use the waveform graph to mark where you want to make your cuts. While the buttons might not be positioned intuitively, they are well-labeled, making it easy to identify their functions. Each cut you make will appear in the preview panel below the waveform, displaying the time frames that indicate their duration and title. On the left side, you’ll find options for splitting settings. Visual splitting is prioritized here, as it grants users complete control over the audio file.

The other methods available offer limited functionality but can be useful in specific scenarios. For instance, you can split the audio into equal segments either by size or by duration. Just enter the number of sections you want, and the app will divide the MP3 file accordingly. Another option is to split by silence, which can be more advantageous than it initially appears. If you have audio files with silent gaps, the app can remove these, thereby reducing the file size by eliminating unnecessary portions.

ID3 tags are metadata containers embedded in all MP3 files, containing information such as the artist, album, genre, release date, and title. You can edit these tags for each split segment using the menu on the right side of the interface to add new metadata to the newly created files.

Although AD MP3 Cutter may have an old-fashioned appearance, its features remain relevant. The visual splitting function and the metadata editor are unlikely to become outdated anytime soon. If you don’t require a comprehensive audio editing tool, this program is ideal for handling all your audio cutting needs.
