ASCII Animator is a unique and very interesting freeware specially designed easily converting any static or dynamic GIF image to colored, animated ASCII art text or image. The conversion effect is very satisfactory and the software itself is pretty easy to use.

ASCII Animator’s workflow in the background is like this: First, it extracts an animated GIF image into separated image frames; Then converts each frame to ASCII art text/image; Finally merges these ASCII art text or images into a new monochrome or colored animated GIF image, or HTML page that consists of ASCII art text only.

The use of ASCII Animator is simple: select a Source GIF image, set up the Output Directory, then convert with one click. Of course, you are also allowed to change font, to set the density of characters, and to choose your desired output type in the Settings.
