BBC: Top 100 British Favorite English Novels (AKA: BBC’s Best Loved Novels of All Time, BBC’s British Top 100 Best Novels All Time, BBC: The 100 Greatest Novels of All Time) is a list of the 100 favorite British literary works selected by the BBC in 2003 through public opinion polls. Among this one hundred works, there are both literary classics and modern best-sellers. Among them, 66 books are written by British writers, 30 ones are children’s literature, and 71 ones have been adapted into movies.

Charles Dickens has five works on this list, making him the author with the most votes. Followed closely by J. K. Rowling, who became popular because of the Harry Potter series. George Orwell‘s Animal Farm and 1984 both received considerable votes, making him the favorite political novelist. Among romance novels, the one with the most votes was Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. Other books that received major votes were Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer and Ulysses by James Joyce. Of course, there were some literary giants who were not selected, such as Ernest Hemingway, Cindy Woodsmall and H.G. Wells.
