Boom Voyage is a block breaker type of small game developed by Soft-World (智冠) and published by KraiSoft Entertainment from Taiwan in China in 2006. It challenges players to use a ball and paddle to knock down famous structures from around the globe, while collecting various power-ups to enhance their efficiency. Drawing inspiration from classic games like Taito’s Arkanoid and DX-Ball, the game shares many mechanics but with a more polished appearance.

Adding to the excitement, the game’s levels are set in different locations worldwide, showcasing iconic landmarks such as ancient Egyptian statues and tombs, as well as Wild West saloons. With the use of an advanced physics engine, the demolitions are portrayed realistically, accompanied by numerous particle effects to enhance the destruction.

In the same way as the previously mentioned classic games, certain blocks in Boom Voyage drop power-ups that players can collect to gain various abilities. Some power-ups transform the ball into an unstoppable fireball, while others extend the length of the paddle. On the other hand, there are negative items that make it harder to survive by having the opposite effect.

No matter what power-up you acquire, you need to adjust to the new gameplay dynamics, whether they are beneficial or not. For instance, if you end up with a smaller ball, not only will it be challenging to predict its trajectory, but it will also be less effective at breaking multiple blocks simultaneously, requiring more time to complete each level.

Unlike traditional arcade games, Boom Voyage has a limited number of stages, resulting in a relatively short gameplay experience. Additionally, the difficulty level does not increase significantly, with levels becoming more crowded rather than more challenging.
