Cisco Packet Tracer is a full-featured network simulation platform (mainly simulates Cisco routers and switches) with a graphical user interface, developed by Cisco Systems. It is designed to provide a network simulation environment for beginners in Cisco networking courses to design, configure and troubleshoot networks. In other words, it can provide a nearly perfect experimental environment for Cisco network engineers, administrators and Cisco certificate candidates.

Cisco Packet Tracer has integrated simulation, visualization, collaboration and evaluation and so on all network simulation environment elements, so it can be better applied to the comprehensive network technology teaching plan. Therefore, with it users can not only practice using routers, switches, wireless adapters and so forth to build their own networks, establish network topologies, but also help students and teachers to create simulation of all kinds of network phenomena.
