LeoCAD is a 3D CAD program for creating virtual LEGO models by using parts from LDraw library, developed by Leonardo Zide in 1997, using C++. It’s free and open-source, and works on Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. It enables users to create their own LEGO models as they wish.
LeoCAD has a simple and intuitive user interface for beginners, and provides rich tools set that enables experienced users to build models by using more complex techniques. It supports users to build various models and scenes, provides various types of building blocks and accessories, supports multiple file formats such as LXF, LDR, can be seamlessly used with other LEGO modeling software, and can directly output finished drawings. In addition, LeoCAD can achieve high-quality rendering effects, and allows users to preview models from various angles.
LeoCAD uses the LDraw parts library, which comes with 10,000+ different parts and is constantly updated. In addition, it is fully compatible with the LDraw open standard and related tools, and can read and write LDR and MPD files, so you can share and download models from the Internet.
