Castlevania: Bloodlines (ANA ????????, Banpaia Kir?, Vampire Killer, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Castlevania: The New Generation) was developed by KONAMI in 1994, as the only Castlevania series video game released for SEGA Genesis (Mega Drive) console. Plus, it is also monopolized by Mega Drive.
As an orthodox sequel of Castlevania series sold on MD platform, it is worth mentioning that Castlevania: Bloodlines is also the first work in Castlevania series that references the literary quotation from the real world. For example, in order to collect the souls of the dead, Elizabeth manipulated the assassination event in Sarajevo, and thereby triggered the World War I (1914-1918), which killed a lot of human.
Unlike other works of Castlevania series, Castlevania: Bloodlines is the first game whose story is not limited to Dracula’s castle and even Romania. Except the first level is in the Dracula’s castle in Rumania, other levels are all located in other European countries: Athens in Greece, Pisa in Italy, a factory in Germany, Palace of Versailles in Paris, as well as Castle Proserpina in England. At the same time, the game has many historical figures as its roles of prototype.
BTW, as you can see on the chronology of Castlevania, the sequel of Castlevania: Bloodlines is Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin on Nintendo DS platform, whose game plot and characters are also influenced by it.
