for VX.2.10:

1. Install software, but do not configure the license
   after completion of the main installation phase (usually in the “Post Installation Scripts” phase)
2. When asked about license, run the keygen
3. Browse to the installation directory (like C:\MentorGraphics\)
4. Click ‘Generate‘ (this takes some time), and wait until it says “Patch OK“
5. Go back to program’s “Select License Type” window from “Post installation Scripts“, and do as follows:
   • 1) Select Mobile Compute (Node-Locked Uncounted)
   • 2) License product select: BOTH
   • 3) Browse to the generated license file in the installation directory (like C:\MentorGraphics\license.dat). In the window that opens for browsing, select License Files (*.dat) from the bottom right corner
   • 4) Click ‘Next‘ -> ‘Next‘ -> ‘Finish‘
6. If there is a “Manage Licensing” menu, choose “Manage Licensing -> Configure Licensing -> Import License File -> Next”
   • Browse for the license file (from the bottom left corner, change the value of File of Types to License Files (*.dat))
   • You have more Licenses to configure -> No
7. Done

for VX.2.8:

1. Run “License Maker/MakeLic.bat” to generate a “licensefile.dat” file
2. Create folder “MentorGraphics” under “C:\“, then copy “licensefile.dat” to this folder
3. Double the reg key file “Environment.reg” to import license info
4. Install PADS (choose “Install Products“)
5. When it shows you “Licensing not found“, click ‘Yes‘, choose “Import License“, click ‘Next‘
6. Click ‘Browse‘, set “File of Types” to “License Files (*.dat)“, enter “C:\MentorGraphics\” and open “licensefile.dat“, and click ‘Next‘
7. At the “Post Installation Scripts” step , choose “I would like to continue through licensing setup“, click ‘Next‘, choose “Mobile Compute“, choose “MGLS Licensing“, and click ‘Next‘
8. Repeat step 6
9. Click ‘Next‘ and finish installation
10. Done

*** You may need to restart the installer if it does not show correctly.

for VX.2.7:

1. Run “getLicense.bat” to generate a “license.txt” file
2. Install program (it is recommended not to install the server)
3. Copy the unlocked files (the “PADSVX.2.7” folder) to installation folder and overwrite
4. Done
