Pro Tools is a digital audio workstation (DAW) software system developed by Avid Technology, which first only appeared on Apple computers, and later also had a PC version. // Installation Notes //

for v2021.7.0 on Windows:

  1. Download and do not run program
  2. Copy unlocked files under “AAX Unlock” folder to installation folder and overwrite
  3. Done

*** The unlocked files under “Optional” folder are for performance improvement, making Pro Tools loading much faster and using much less memory.

*** To run Pro Tools with legit Pro Tools First (free) license: first apply “AAX Unlock” or “Optional” unlocked files, then replace the unlocked files under “With PT First License”. If you want to use legit Pro Tools HD or Ultimate license, do not use this.

for v12.5.0 on Windows:

  1. Download and run “Setup.exe”
  2. Install program and plugins from the menu
  3. Done

*** Make sure there is no special or non-English character in the path.

  • Pro Tools may cause the browser’s video player to crash when running.
  • Prior to Pro Tools 8, the Pro Tools system was consisted of software and the hardware it supported. That is, software cannot be installed and used without hardware. But since Pro Tools 9, Avid Technology has removed the forced binding with the hardware. From then on, it could be installed and used separately.
