solXpect is a free and open-source photovoltaic system (PV) or balcony PV system output forecast application for Android platform, developed by woheller69 from Germany. It uses direct and diffuse radiation data from Open-Meteo.com, provides precise calculations of the sun’s position and projection of radiation onto your solar panel, and takes the shading and temperature coefficient into account.

To provide accurate forecasts of your solar power plant’s output, solXpect offers a comprehensive estimation of energy production for the upcoming 16 days, with hourly values calculated for the preceding hour. For instance, if the app displays 150 Wh at 11:00, it signifies that you can anticipate 150 Wh of energy generation from your photovoltaic system between 10:00 and 11:00. The values denoted by Σ indicate the cumulative energy produced since midnight of the first day.

To use solXpect, you only need to input your latitude and longitude coordinates, as well as the azimuth and tilt of your solar panel. Additionally, you provide information regarding the peak power, efficiency, temperature coefficient, and area of your solar panel, as well as the maximum power and efficiency of your inverter. Furthermore, solXpect offers the capability to define shading on your solar panels by specifying the minimum elevation of the sun required for sunlight to reach the panels, along with the percentage of shading for elevations below this threshold.

In the case of multiple solar panels with the same latitude and longitude but facing different directions, you can designate them as separate locations and utilize the ‘show sum’ feature to consolidate their output. Overall, solXpect serves as a highly effective tool for optimizing the utilization of your own energy and reducing energy costs.
