TeamTalk is a free and open-source multi-user conferencing system for Windows, Mac, Linux and mobile platforms, developed by Bjoern D. Rasmussen from Denmark. It allows user to perform real-time voice and video communication through Internet. For voice encoding, it uses the Opus and Speex audio codecs; for video streaming, it uses the WebM video codec.
In addition to using sound cards for voice calls, TeamTalk also supports text communication, file sharing, remote screen control, and more. TeamTalk’s setup file includes both client and server applications. Once a computer has TeamTalk installed and joins some group, then each member of this group with a microphone and webcam can communicate with other local and global members using audio and video. In addition, user can arrange conferences, and all communications can be recorded to disk.
TeamTalk allows users to communicate with high quality voice/video via the Internet or local area network. Unlike other Internet-based voice communication software, TeamTalk has no limit on the number of people who can participate in a conversation (which depends only on your bandwidth and system resources). It has a minimal voice latency, which results in a better communication result. If your Internet speed gets slow, TeamTalk will automatically reduce the sound quality to reduce the bandwidth requirement, so as to maintain a normal communication as much as possible.
