MAME4droid (short for MAME for Android) is an Android port version of the most popular arcade emulator MAME (only version 0.139u1) that was developed by Nicola Salmoria and the MAME team, made by David Valdeita (Seleuco). It is able to emulate all romsets supported by the original MAME of this version.

MAME4droid is currently the most powerful and popular arcade emulator for Android devices. It is recompiled based on the open-source project Mame4All, has relatively high requirements for device hardware configuration, and is compatible with more than 8,000 arcade games. In addition, it can perfectly restore the excellent graphics of the arcade console, supports a variety of mobile phones/tablets of different brands, allows to customize the buttons and start methods, provides a variety of operation methods, supports Bluetooth gamepads and netplay, and so on.

MAME4droid is specially designed for Dual-Core Android devices, because it is based on the MAME version for PC. Even with a high end device, do not expect “modern” arcade games from the 90s and beyond to necessarily work at full speed or compatibility. Some games like Outrun and the Mortal Kombat series are badly optimized.

Although MAME is so powerful, it has not released a mobile platform version. If you are obsessed with arcade games and want to play them on your Android devices,  then MAME4droid is what you need. With it, you can now enjoy some of the most famous arcade games of all time right from the comfort of your Android smartphone or tablet.
