The main intention Taro Labs (from China) developed SSTap is – the hooking working mechanism of SocksCap64 (which was implemented with DLL injection technology) can cause itself to be recognized and intercepted by some game anti-theft systems and not work properly. In other words, SocksCap64 is not suitable for providing SOCKS proxy for all game programs, so that’s where SSTap enters the picture.

The online video playing within a web browser cannot always be detected and downloaded to local drive with help of common downloaders (especially the video that is divided into multiple pieces). At this point, recording it using the traditional desktop/screen capture tools is our only choice. However, at least two deadly weaknesses exist when using them to record streaming videos:

  1. The graphics quality is too low, and the frame loss phenomenon is very serious
  2. During the video recording process, you can do nothing else but make sure the recording area keeps focused and not obscured, otherwise the unexpected things will be recorded

SocksCap64 – Make any program run through SOCKS proxy server

SocksCap used to be the most popular proxy client made by Permeo for Windows XP. Unfortunately, Permeo gave up the maintenance of SocksCap so it couldn’t be used on a 64-bit OS. In essence, SocksCap64 is a 64-bit version of SocksCap that perfectly supports Windows XP and higher versions (both 32-bit and 64-bit), which is implemented based on the DLL injection technology. It was originally designed to help the author (Taro Labs from China) himself reduce the connection delay when playing cross-regional online games.
