MediaHuman Audio Converter is a free and cross-platform audio formats conversion & extraction program for Windows and Mac, developed by MediaHuman. It’s written in C++ and Qt framework (for UI), and uses popular free software libraries like FFmpeg, OpenSSL, LAME, and TagLib.

OBS – Free, open-source and cross-platform live streaming and recording tool

Due to the popularity of live streaming, the success of XSplit Broadcaster intensified the competition within the Internet-based broadcasting software industry. OBS is one of the live streaming apps that wants to surpass XSplit. So far, it has been slightly better than XSplit in terms of functionality and performance. In addition, its official said it would be free forever (I hope so). This means that if XSplit doesn’t master some revolutionary new technologies, it will soon be ruined by OBS.

Pixologic claims to be the maker of Sculptris, but actually it had no choice but acquired it in 2010 due to the huge threats from Sculptris, and applied Sculptris’ advantages to ZBrush, so as to maintain the market and position of ZBrush. Otherwise, if Sculptris’ inventor Tomas Pettersson had chosen to stick to go his own way (although that would have been tough) rather than join into the Pixologic team, then this revolutionary software could have quickly eliminated ZBrush. In other words, it was his own shortcomings that killed his invention, not the competition from Pixologic.

ILSpy – Must-have .NET assembly browser and decompiler

ILSpy is a free and open-source .NET assembly browser and decompression tool that is pretty popular in the C# development field, developed by ICSharpCode (i.e. the development team of SharpDevelop). It has the user interface, layout, and decompilation functions similar to Red Gate Software’s .NET Reflector. Moreover, sometimes for some assemblies that can not be decompiled with .NET Reflector (because of encryption), it’s still possible to do that using ILSpy. Simply speaking, it has only one purpose – to finally completely replace .NET Reflector and do better.

MAMP – Your preferred local web development solution on Mac

Using the three free, open-source and original system components (PHP, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin) to develop, test, and deploy Web applications locally is almost the only best option available at the moment. Thereinto, Apache Web server and PHP hypertext preprocessor are preinstalled on Mac. But they are not enabled by default, and the pre-installed version of PHP lacks many utility features. The MySQL needs to be installed and configured separately. Unless you are able to expertly use command lines in Terminal, installing the one-stop solution MAMP (PRO) is much simpler and more efficient.
