Essential Mathematics for Games and Interactive Applications provides the expert insights on the mathematics essential for 3D game and interactive applications development. Based on the authors’ well-received tutorial from the Game Developers Conference (GDC), it emphasizes the critical role of mathematics in 3D programming. It guides you through the proper techniques for animating, simulating, and rendering scenes while delving into the mathematical principles that underlie these processes.

[v4.6] Voxler – Scientific visualization program for volumetric rendering and 3D data display

Working with 3D data and creating models or special views can definitely be challenging, often leading users to turn to increasingly complicated software packages. However, there are also more user-friendly options available that maintain essential 3D functionality. One such tool is Voxler, which is designed to efficiently visualize and manage 3D data from various sources and for different purposes.

[v2.27] 3DMark – Gamer and overclocking enthusiast’s must-have benchmark tool

3DMark is a classic, authoritative and fully-functional hardware performance (mainly for GPU and CPU) benchmark software series developed by Futuremark in 1998 (at that time, graphics cards with 3D acceleration feature were rapidly spreading). As of writing this post, it has released 11 versions. And now it is no longer just a tool used to measure the 3D graphic rendering performance of display cards, but has gradually evolved into an industry standard software for PC and Mobile platforms to evaluate their overall performance.

OGRE – Marvelous free and open-source 3D graphics rendering engine

OGRE (short for Object-Oriented Graphics Rendering Engine) is a free, open-source, and cross-platform 3D graphics real-time rendering engine that is widely used in 3D simulation and game development fields, written in C++ in 2001. Because it is an open-source graphics engine, like Linux, it has been adapted and expanded by a variety of different groups and organizations, so that it can adapt to different application areas and has more powerful functions.

3D Math Primer for Graphics and Game Development HD PDF, DJVU

3D mathematics is a subject related to computational geometry. 3D math is the technical basis of computer graphics and computer 3D game development, while computational geometry is a subject that studies how to solve geometric problems with numerical methods. Both 3D math and computational geometry are widely used in fields that use computers to simulate the 3D world, such as graphics, games, simulations, robotics, virtual reality, animation design, and more.

Kerkythea – Photorealistic free renders for your 3D models

Kerkythea is a completely free, high-quality and fast 3D models render for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux platforms, developed by Ioannis Pantazopoulos from Greece. I found this free render engine in the process of studying SketchUp (by reading Architectural Design with SketchUp). In the end, it passed the software quality audit of AppNee, thus can be shared with more users around the world. Although it is a free software and not as popular as other renders, the functions of Kerkythea are not inferior in any respect. To some extent, it can be a preferred rendering tool for many small companies.
