The god knows who is using L0phtCrack as a security auditing tool to do the so-called password strength testing or recovery. I conclude that 90% of individuals are using it to violently obtain the passwords itself (through methods of dictionary, brute-force, hybrid attacks, rainbow tables, etc.). Whatever you’s like to use it for, what we just can’t deny is that it’s the most outstanding one in similar software.

[v1.x.x] Perfect Keylogger – Reliable user activity monitoring software

Perfect Keylogger is an excellent keyboard logger created as an alternative to the very expensive commercial products such as iSpyNOW, Spector Pro, eBlaster. It has similar functionality, but is easier to use. Because it hides the complex internal mechanisms behind a user-friendly interface. It is also the first keylogger software solution that can be completely invisible in Windows Task Manager.

[v10.5, v10.4] Symantec Encryption Desktop – PGP Desktop’s successor

PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) is currently the best and most popular data (including texts, e-mails, files, directories, partitions, and whole disk) signing, encrypting, and decrypting program, developed by Phil Zimmermann in 1991. Its source code is open, and it has withstood the challenges from thousands of top hackers around the world. It turns out that PGP is still the most secure encryption software in the world for now (until the popularity of quantum computers, I think). Without a password, no one can decrypt the data encrypted with it!

HOIC – LOIC’s successor made by the hacktivist group Anonymous

HOIC (AKA: H.O.I.C., short for High Orbit Ion Cannon) is a free and open-source network stress testing and DoS/DDoS attacking application for Windows, Mac and Linux. It was written in Visual Basic and C#, developed by Anonymous (a hacktivist collective) during the Operation Payback after federal agents shut down Megaupload, and released as LOIC‘s predecessor.

XOIC – Launch DoS attack with TCP/HTTP/UDP/ICMP message

XOIC is another foolproof DoS/DDoS attack launching tool (euphemistically called server stress testing tool) for Windows. It executes (D)DoS attacks to the target IP Address based on the port and protocol selected by user. Its developer claims that XOIC is more powerful than LOIC in many ways.

LOIC – Popular network stress testing application

LOIC (short for Low Orbit Ion Cannon) is a free and open-source network/website stress testing tool initially developed by Praetox Technologies (currently maintained by the open source community) with C# in 2014. It’s made for educational purposes only (that’s to say, you should not use this software for illegal or unethical purposes, including activities that give rise to criminal or civil liability), and intended to help server owners develop a “hacker defense” attitude.
